September, I've Been Waiting For You

It feels as though I have spent the entirety of Summer wishing for September to come around- crazy right? I love new beginnings, and to me this particular month is the epitome of a fresh start.

There's something exciting about the potential for something new; over the past few years Monday has become my favourite day of the week and the start of a new season excites me far more than it should. As much as I enjoy the sunnier months, due to the lack of holiday and/or actual sun here in the UK it's safe to say that the arrival of Autumn has been much anticipated. When it comes to style, this time of year is by far my fave (did somebody say roll neck?) and the darker evenings make everything feel 100x cosier which is a YES from me.

As I haven't set out any monthly goals in a while, I thought that September would be the perfect time to have a little refresh- and before I get distracted by how quickly this year has flown by, lets crack on...

1. Publish a blog post at least once a week. After exam season I found it very difficult to get back into the swing of weekly blogging, finding the whole ordeal a little strenuous (which is not what it should be like) so I decided to take a break. Having spent some time away, as well as catching up on of my favourite bloggers, I want to get back into the swing of things!

2. Spend more time with my family. Working multiple jobs, studying for a degree and being in a relationship, it's easy to neglect those closest to you. I still live at home and although I crave the freedom of moving out, I have come to terms that it isn't going to be for a while; so following the realisation that I do sometimes treat my house like a bit of a pit-stop, I want to dedicate more time to those who really matter.

3. Start my day screen free. This may seem like a funny one as the majority of people are trying to eliminate screen time in the evenings, but over the past 6 months or so I have NAILED that new years resolution; before bed I put my phone out of arms reach and tuck up with a book or magazine, letting myself drift off in a relaxed environment. But alas, I still find myself mindlessly scrolling through Facebook and Twitter with no intention first thing in the morning, while I could be doing something far better for my mind and body. Perhaps I'll try reading whilst drinking my 8am cuppa?

4. Rejoin the blogging community (yes, another bloggy goal!) This time last year I was getting ready for the Bloggers Festival, however juggling work and my education has meant that attending events has become a bit of a struggle. I still catch up with my blogging huns on a regular basis, but as the festive period fast approaches I am keen to get involved with more.

What are you babes hoping to achieve this month? I can't help but feel just a little bit excited for the big C, but don't worry I'll save those thoughts for another time! For now lets enjoy our chunky knits, frosty mornings and pumpkin spice lattes.. (hallelujah!)

  1. What lovely goals! I don't usually think about 'monthly' goals... I'm still trying to tackle my yearly ones which we've only got 4 months left to do them in... GULP! I have started screen-free evenings, I used to be on my phone until the minute I turned off the light. Now I give myself an hour before bed to relax and get all 'sleepy', I really think it helps me sleep quicker and better!

  3. Ah, the internet always calls to me :P I should really try to set limits, but it can be tricky. Instagram I sometimes find myself spending so long liking pictures, then next thing I am totally shocked how much time went by. Good luck with your goals :)
