How to Stay Healthy at Work

We've all been there; you're having a bad day (or a bad week!) and it's somebody's birthday, which inevitably means one thing.. The temptation to have just one of the undoubtedly-sweet treats on the table is almost impossible to fight. Whether you're working at home, or in an office like myself, here are some of my tips to stay healthy and keep on track.

I don't know if it's just me, but in summer I'm a sucker for anything with fruity flavouring, I could go days without food as long as I have some juices to get me by! However, it is super important to remember the cardinal drink. One word, water. I can't stress this enough; water is the key to all. It is recommended that you drink around 2 to 3 litres of water every day, so I would suggest getting yourself a large bottle than can easily be refilled; I like to keep one within reach whether I am at my desk, or not. Not only does it make your skin glow (which nobody can complain about), it flushes out those nasty toxins and can help to kick a few extra calories!

Sometimes it's hard to get up and about when you're stuck at a desk all day, but keeping moving will help to improve not only your health, but your mood too. Anything as little as 5 minutes will refresh you to carry on with your day; why not take a stroll on your lunch break too? That will keep you away from those dreaded communal biscuits! Although I don't have one myself, getting a step-o-meter may be a good idea to keep an eye on how many calories you are burning- we all love to check up on our progress! The iPhone health app works equally as well.

Although walking in your break is a great pick me up after that late morning slump, it's important to make sure that you take some time to unwind. Not only will this make you feel better, but by relaxing and eating slowly it will help your food digest better (my body does this super slowly so I love to take a break and rest up!).

Amongst working and blogging, this summer I now have several plans; alongside this I am determined to stay healthy and active.. Why not do it with me?
